Sensor Program

A Commitment to Performance and Quality...

Ramcel Engineering Company's sensor program was started in July of 1998.

It was apparent to Ramcel that in order to stay ahead of and maintain our competitiveness in the stamping industry, we needed to proceed with a progressive and aggressive in-die sensor program.

With customers' needs changing (meeting JIT deliveries, reducing cost of die maintenance, and eliminating die crashes), a mandate was set to build value-added sensors in all new tooling, and to retrofit existing tooling.

The process begins with engineering setting up a stock strip layout. The Sensor Project Manager reviews particular needs for the tool and chooses which sensors are to be installed. This is done by first testing the sensors on the test bench, then installing them to precise locations in the tool.

Ramcel understands that material presentation to the sensor is one of the key ingredients to a successful application. The program looks at strip location and/or progression, features, part ejection, stripper flatness, slug detection, and tonnage monitoring through wave signature.

Proximity Sensors
Proximity & photoelectric sensors for strip location
Our special application of proximity and photoelectric sensors for strip location detection are rapidly becoming a company standard.

As with all electronic devices there must be something in place to interpret the signal. Ramcel is well on its way to installing the latest up to date press controls.
